Lok Sabha elections 2024 are going to start in India this month, but in the meantime a big news has come out. Actually, tech company Microsoft has warned that Chinese hackers are using AI tools. Microsoft wrote in its blog post that big elections are going to be held in different countries of the world this year, which include the names of some big countries like India, South Korea and America. In such a situation, China can influence voters by using AI generated content and tools for its benefit. China has made such efforts before also.
How can we influence using AI?
According to Microsoft, AI tools are proving to be as dangerous as weapons for hackers, because they are using them as per their wish. It is now easy to create deepfake and edited videos through these AI tools. Hackers can easily operate fake accounts and even the voices of famous leaders can be cloned, then shared publicly on a large scale, after which it can go viral and reach millions of people.

The company also said in its post that AI content was also used to influence Taiwan’s presidential elections in January 2024. This was the first such attempt to influence a foreign election with AI-generated content. China has been continuously using this type of experiment to increase memes, videos and audios.
